What are you afraid of?

What are you afraid of? You might say nothing. If you did, I invite you to reflect on what is currently bothering you. What negative thoughts flood your consciousness? What triggers you? Chances are fear is at the bottom of it. I will give you some examples of how we can peel the layers to get to the bottom of it.

  1. You beat yourself up for gaining weight and start counting calories, obsessively exercising, beating yourself up for that glass of wine or cookie to get to the fictional number of the scale. What is behind this fear of gaining weight? Loss of looks? Fear that your partner might not find you attractive? What’s below that? Fear that they might look elsewhere, leave, or reject you? What’s below that fear? You will be alone and unloved. That’s the fear linked to your self-worth.

  2. You make excuses not to mediate. Your mind is busy, and you avoid it at all cost and create more busyness in your life. What’s hiding underneath this avoidance? What happens in silence? What thoughts or emotions come up? How do they feel? Uncomfortable? So you fear discomfort. Why is getting to know yourself scary and uncomfortable? You might be scared that you won’t like what you find. Maybe you forgot who you are—your true brilliant essence. Let me remind you of that.

  3. You are stuck in news cycle and judging everyone who is not. You judge everyone who is not as informed as you or who doesn’t believe what you believe. You feel the need to act, protest, maybe even riot. What are you afraid of? Perhaps it’s that someone will call you ignorant or not having your voice heard. Maybe it's fear of being called out and shamed in some way. Or maybe it’s fear of loss of control, and all those actions make you feel like you are actually doing something to protect yourself. It’s great to DO something, but it has to come from the right place. Don't you agree? It has to be constructive and not destructive, like fear.

  4. You hear surrender and cringe. Loss of control is a big fear for most of us. What’s behind it? Maybe it’s fear of change. That universe will lead you somewhere uncomfortable and will require change. Maybe it will mean downsizing and losing your possessions. Maybe you realize that your possessions define you. What will you be without them? Might you lose social circle and standing? FOMO? Or what if no one will like what’s left without the masks and distraction?

But what is the cost of fear? You see, fear robs you of your freedom and the connection to yourself, your Higher Self, Source. Do you notice how it keeps you living in the red reactionary state? You don’t act intuitively; you react. It keeps you stuck at a low vibration place while attracting more of the same low-frequency junk to you. We came here for the lessons. One of them is to overcome fear. Until we do, the lessons will keep coming. They will wear different hats and shoes, but they will be the same lessons.

So what to do.

  1. Do the exercise to dig to the bottom of it.

  2. Feel your way through it. Choose not to be stuck any longer.

  3. Name your fears. Learn the patterns.

  4. Acknowledge them when they come up.

  5. Make space for them.

  6. Accept that it is a part of you.

  7. Begin releasing it.

  8. Make peace that it is a part of each one of us.

  9. Learn to defuse the thoughts when they come up. When you allow yourself to be dragged down the same path, you give it power. You reinforce that negative neural pathway. When we stop thinking those thoughts, the pathways withers away.

  10. Stay in the observer seat more.

  11. Raise your vibrations! The quickest way out is appreciation thoughts.

  12. Connect to your heart.

  13. Ask for guidance, “I notice myself stuck in the fear cycle. I don’t want to feel this way. Guide me back to love/peace/joy.” or whatever resonates.

Lastly, avoiding it will just bury it further and increase the layers you have to peel back. Get to the bottom of it now and start acting mindfully.
